Welcome to the Studio!  I thought I’d give you a little behind the scenes Newborn Photography Studio Tour!

Our studio was once a silent movie theater and these gorgeous wood floors are original to the 100 year old building.  When I was growing up it was a hardware store…and then it sat empty for years.  It seems like the perfect place for me to capture many memories and lots of sweet history for families to have forever.

Not only do we have a TV and comfy chairs and sofa…but we also have a small snack bar…because well…SNACKS.

I have a love for found pieces…and of course found the perfect TV cabinet from my good friend Anna over at Re-Nue Home Studio.  She had the piece and I asked if she could paint it in the same white as our walls.

P I N_______I M A G E

Like I said…a big white box! I had dreamed of having an all white studio and we made it happen.  The Floors, walls everything is painted Super White by Ben Moore.  This white is CLEAN with no color cast and works great in the studio.  The floors are simply plywood painted…and painted…and painted!  I mean…its white so no it doesn’t last.  We repaint about every 6 months or so.

The studio has large north facing windows that provide all the light we need!

We installed this barn door slider and used the same doors as the rest of the building to add some character to the space…and also because we are limited on space for storage.  I got them on Amazon…of course!

So to keep all that bright light in the shooting area…but not box off our seating are we decided to build a reflector wall!  (this also helps keep wild toddlers in the area!).  We had the builders add in a 4ft x 8ft stub wall…and then added on 2 – 4ft x 8ft hollow core doors that we had previously used for a wedding show.  We ordered these doors custom from Home Depot…and had them not pre-drilled for handles…so they were solid.

The doors hinge out and back in to create a huge reflector for shooting.

If you ever watch some of my behind the scenes and wonder where the parents are…they are simply behind the reflector wall…just steps away relaxing on the sofas!
